REC Seeks Art from Grade School Students in Design Contest
A new art contest being held by the asks Ӱpro students in grades 5-8, “What do you want your community’s energy system to look like when you are 50 years old?
The REC attracts around 400 people biennially from over 75 villages and towns in Ӱpro and beyond. The three-day event offers a large variety of technical sessions covering new and ongoing energy projects in Ӱpro, as well as new technologies and needs for Ӱpro's remote communities.
The conference’s art contest offers Amazon gift card prizes ranging from $50-$20 for first, second and third places. Artwork must be 8.5 inches by 11 inches for easy reproduction. Entries should be mailed flat (folded or wrinkled entries will not be accepted) or emailed as a jpg file to the contact below by Feb. 14, 2018, with a cover sheet (a separate jpg or pdf file if emailing). The cover sheet must include:
1) Student name, 2) teacher name, 3) school name, 4) community name, 5) local electric utility name, and 6) this statement: “I give my permission for this artwork to be used as the front or back cover of the 2018 Ӱpro Rural Energy Conference program.” The sheet must be signed by the student and their parent or legal guardian.
