ÐÓ°Épro's Blue Economy
The world's ocean economy, or "blue economy," is expected to double its estimated value between 2016 and 2030 to $3 trillion under baseline scenarios. This growth is driven by innovation in research and development of technologies that are changing our understanding and interactions with the world's aquatic ecosystems. With more coastline than the rest of the United States combined, fisheries that produce over 50% of the nation's seafood, incredible biodiversity, and a history of innovation in sustainable resource management, the growth of the blue economy is of strategic importance to ÐÓ°Épro. The next decade will see tremendous opportunities for the University of ÐÓ°Épro to support this development through the engagement of industry, government, and academia.
