The next Community Energy Lecture Series will be held at 6 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at The Blue Loon (2999 Parks Highway).  Ross Coen, Ӱpro Center for Energy and Power research professional, will present this month’s lecture  “Ӱpro Crude: A Brief History of Oil and Gas in the 49th State.”

A lot is known about Prudhoe Bay and the pipeline, but Ӱpro's history of oil development goes back much further. From the first oil well at Katalla in 1902 right up to the present day, oil development has had a profound impact on Ӱpro. Coen will explore the political, economic, environmental and social history of Ӱpro's oil industry and how our complicated relationship with the valuable resource has influenced life in Ӱpro at almost every turn.
