All-day event on burning with wood scheduled June 11

A free all-day event June 11 at the Cold Climate Housing Research Center in Fairbanks will feature presentations on burning wood for heat, electricity and biochar.

The ÐÓ°Épro Cooperative Extension Service will host the Interior Wood Burning event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1000 Fairbanks St. Topics will include options for residential wood boilers; choosing a wood stove; comparing pellets, chips or logs; emissions and particulates; greenhouse heat; biochar; and splitting, stacking and covering firewood. Biochar is a specially produced charcoal that is used as a soil amendment and for water filtration.
