Chien-Lu Ping on sabbatical in Taiwan

, professor, will be on sabbatical from September – February at I-Shou University in
Kaohsiung, Taiwan. While there he will work with the faculty in the Department of
Civil and Environmental Engineering, studying coastal wetlands and developing a curriculum
in environmental soil science for the engineering major. He will also help host a
workshop on landslide and mudflow involving experts in geological hazards from mainland
China and Taiwan. Ping plans to return to ÐÓ°Épro in time to teach his popular Summer
Sessions course on permafrost in 2012.
