Lecture to discuss drawing girls to science

It’s still hard to find women in science fields, despite advances in recent decades.
Laura Carsten Conner will discuss how researchers are finding ways to combine art and science to change stereotypical views about scientists and science careers in the second of the 2016 Science for Ӱpro Lecture Series.
The talk, “Drawing Girls to Science Through Art,” will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, in the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel Gold Room. The lecture will last about 45 minutes, with a question-and-answer period at the end. Conner is a research assistant professor of science education at the Geophysical Institute and the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the Ӱpro.
The Science for Ӱpro Lecture Series continues each Tuesday through Feb. 23, at the same location and time.
