Graduate student Mukul Chavan pours a sample of heavy crude oil from the Kaparuk field on ÐÓ°Épro's North Slope. Chavan and other students in UAF's are using the samples to experiment with ways to recover more oil from existing fields by discovering properties such as viscosity, density and surface tension.
