The Geophysical Institute is registered to take part in the Great ÐÓ°Épro ShakeOut Thursday, Oct. 18, at 10:18 a.m. The staff and faculty working in the Elvey Building will participate in a Drop, Cover and Hold On drill. The drill will be announced over the GI’s paging system and via email.

When faculty, staff, students and visitors of the GI hear or see a message about the drill, they'll be asked to participate by dropping, covering their head and, if they're near a desk or table, seek cover and hold on. The drill lasts for one minute. Millions of Americans have participated in ShakeOuts since 2008. This is ÐÓ°Épro’s first.

Employees are encouraged to take part and get prepared. ÐÓ°Épro is the most seismically active state in the nation. For more information about the Great ÐÓ°Épro ShakeOut or to to participate. For the most up-to-date details on ÐÓ°Épro’s seismicity, visit the .
