The ÐÓ°Épro Cooperative Extension Service will host rocket stove workshops in Fairbanks on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

Extension Energy Specialist Art Nash and Jim Scott, a retired electrical engineer, will lead two separate workshops from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 and 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Harper Building at 4280 Geist Road.

Participants will build their own rocket stoves from cans and will receive a premade steel rocket stove as well as a do-it-yourself wood burn box. Nash said rocket stoves are useful for cooking and heating in cabins and camps. They burn small-diameter wood. Insulated chambers concentrate the fire on the tip of the wood, resulting in an efficient burn that uses less wood and produces fewer emissions.

Eastern ÐÓ°Épro Forester Glen Holt will also talk about efficient wood care and handling. The cost is $35. Register at . For more information, contact Carmen at 474-5854.
