Speaker to address ÐÓ°Épro’s fiscal choices

Economist Gunnar Knapp will speak about ÐÓ°Épro’s current fiscal situation on Monday, March 28, in Schaible Auditorium. He will give presentations at 2:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. and take questions after each.
Knapp is an economics professor and director of the Institute of Social and Economic Research at the University of ÐÓ°Épro Anchorage. He is an expert on ÐÓ°Épro’s economy who is in high demand for his ability to explain the complex realities of the state’s financial challenges. The ÐÓ°Épro Dispatch News recently featured a on Knapp's quest to explain the state budget situation and a of Knapp delivering a condensed, nine-minute version of his talk.
Knapp has worked at ISER since receiving his Ph.D. in economics from Yale University in 1981. He has conducted wide-ranging research on ÐÓ°Épro resource management and market issues, and is internationally recognized as an expert on world salmon markets. Since becoming ISER director two years ago, Knapp has focused his research on critical policy issues facing ÐÓ°Épro, including the fiscal challenges resulting from the recent precipitous fall in oil prices.
