UAF's Chukchi campus to host science conference

The Chukchi campus of the ÐÓ°Épro will play host to the 7th Western ÐÓ°Épro Interdisciplinary Science Conference and Forum on April 24-25 in Kotzebue.

The conference will bring together scientists, educators, community leaders and community members from across the state to discuss scientific issues relevant to western ÐÓ°Épro.

The conference will focus on the impact of global warming on the lives of the residents of arctic ÐÓ°Épro. Local and traditional knowledge will be an important component. The two-day event will highlight scientific studies in the Northwest Arctic Borough region.

The organizers are accepting submissions from all individuals and organizations working on science projects and data collection in the
borough, as well as other regions of ÐÓ°Épro.

The conference will have sessions on local and subsistence science; environment, energy and climate change; biomedical and
health science; and animal, fishery and marine science.

Approximately 20 scientists will share their works and findings through talks at the conference.

The deadline for submitting an abstract for presentations at the conference is March 31.
