Wildfire defensible space workshop offered

A workshop about creating wildfire defensible space around homes will be offered July 16 at the North Pole Fire Department.

The free public workshop will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. and is co-sponsored by the University of ÐÓ°Épro Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service, the ÐÓ°Épro Division of Forestry and the fire department.

Extension forester Glen Holt and North Pole fire Chief Buddy Lane will talk about creating and maintaining a defensible space to help survive wildfire. They also will show the best tools to use to create defensible space. The workshop will include a short video, slides and a discussion.
