DHS/FEMA-sponsored risk and crisis management training at UAF

The ÐÓ°Épro Emergency Management Office announces the upcoming delivery of two nationally recognized DHS/FEMA-sponsored training opportunities, offered free of charge, on the ÐÓ°Épro campus.

These courses are designed to strengthen our institution’s ability to mitigate risk, manage crises, and build a more resilient higher education community. We invite you to join us, along with campus and community partners, to engage in these high-value, instructor-led offerings.

*MGT-361: Crisis Management Affecting Institutions of Higher Education
Date: July 15-16, 2025  |  Duration: 2 days (16 hours)

Designed specifically for institutions of higher learning, this immersive course utilizes case studies and simulations to explore prevention, crisis communication, incident response, and recovery strategies. Ideal for

  • Campus infrastructure, administration, and emergency managers
  • Neighboring jurisdictions and mutual aid partners

*MGT-307: Enterprise Risk Management – A Collaborative Community Mitigation Effort
Date: July 17, 2025  |  Duration: 1 day (8 hours)

This course introduces a comprehensive approach to risk management tailored to higher education. Topics include the ERM process, interdepartmental collaboration, and strategic mitigation planning. Ideal for

  • Campus leadership, risk managers, public safety, HR, international affairs, health services staff, Emergency operations, and environmental health and safety teams

The classes will be held on the UAF Campus in room 501, at the Akasofu Building (2160 Koyukuk Drive) and will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.
